Valuing Diversity
In society, some groups and individuals are less favourably treated on the grounds of race, religion, gender, caring responsibilities, disabilities, age or sexual orientation. We have an unequivocal commitment to the principle and operation of equality in terms of how we deliver the best recruitment service to potential staff and how we support our own staff.
This is designed to consider:
Black and minority ethnic (BME) staff: we are committed to offering individuals a chance of realising abilities and aspirations regardless of their race. Moreover, members of BME groups may have special experience that may be of particular value to the services CCHA provides.
Sex Discrimination (encompassing gender and caring responsibilities): our aim is to ensure that opportunities are available fairly to both men and women. It is in CCHA's interests to retain the services of trained and experienced staff.
Disability: people can be denied a fair chance of work because of pre-conceived ideas or judgements about what they are and are not capable of doing. Our aim is to think creatively when considering adaptations. People with disabilities are invited to apply for any jobs advertised by CCHA.
Age: social attitudes can result in unfair assumptions being made about an individual because they belong to a certain age group. Suitably experienced staff will be considered and recruited regardless of age (subject to any legal restrictions): CCHA positively values the experience that comes with age.
Sexual Orientation: an individual's sexual orientation will not affect her/his chance of becoming employed by CCHA. We recognise that some groups are treated unfavourably as a result of their sexual orientation and undertake to prevent such discrimination.
