Domestic Violence Policy & Procedure

Domestic Violence is a Crime and staff in all departments will work with the victim to tackle this.

IF YOU ARE A VICTIM OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE YOU DO NOT HAVE TO SUFFER IT IN SILENCE.

The Domestic Violence Policy & Procedure is a new one for CCHA. However, this policy and procedure will be used when dealing with incidents of domestic violence where either women or men are the victims, or in circumstances involving gay and lesbian relationships, bisexual or transgender people. Where there is transphobic violence or harassment or other family relationships e.g. between mother and son.

CCHA will:

  • support victims of domestic violence in resolving issues related to their tenure and safety by taking the following steps
  • take a victim centred approach to reports of domestic violence
  • accept what victims say
  • give absolute priority to the safety of victims and children
  • take action to evict perpetrators of domestic violence where appropriate
  • only take action in support of victims with their consent.
