Getting the Team together
Staff Conference 2009
Well, November always brings our staff conference and for me an opportunity to see our entire team all in one place - all 70ish of them. This year's theme was inspired by our desire to be more value for money driven (VFM in the jargon!) and looking at how we can better use our knowledge and contacts to make services better for residents.
It's great to take people out of their normal roles just for a day and ask them to think about what we all do and build plans for improvement. I said at the time, quoting someone (sorry no time to find out who) that we should never underestimate the power of a few caring and dedicated people to change the world - in fact it's the only thing that ever has. And with that final inspiring quote ringing in their minds we promptly went post-conference bowling and they made it their mission to beat me. Hmmm...that'll teach me.
