It's all about the cash

Ego costs money!

When I first had a chat with Jeremy, the Chief Exec at South London YMCA early last year, it immediately became apparent that we both had a great deal in common. Head offices in Croydon only 300 yards apart, Boards packed with strong, local, influential people, lots of important supported housing services in London and perhaps most importantly he and I both have a strong and uncanny resemblance to George Clooney (well one of us does).

Actually, the most important thing we have in common is that we need to operate expensive head office services, such as human resources, computers and finance people which puts pressure on the business and reduces our chances of investing in homes and residents.

So...this is our big idea; you ready?

Why don’t we, set up one office in Croydon with our two businesses in it, share our computers, our corporate people and our finance teams and save between us £250,000 of tenants’ rents each year? “Simples” as that annoying little cat chap would say. So later this year we will be doing just that and in doing so, trust each other with our reputations and our future services. So, no egos here....even if we do look like film stars!
