First Flurry

Brrrrrrrrrrrrr

My very first cocktail was a "Snowball" made for me by my Grandmother (who incidentally knew a thing or two about these things being a cocktail waitress at Fortnum and Mason). The drink itself was a rather yellow, sweet concoction which I found out in later life contained egg and brandy. A far cry from the one that narrowly missed me as I stood at the bus stop this morning; Last day of school term, a sort of "lets try and knock that blokes hat off" kind of snowball.

Last night, remembering the snow in February, I watched as the snow started to fall on my late night Christmas shopping effort in Sutton. Last time, as we all remember, everything ground to a halt and at CCHA we relied upon a small but committed band of individuals at who broadly fell into one group - live close enough to walk.

Today, Boris had my bus running ironically, better than normal, lots of new faces, preferring the bus to the walk or drive no doubt. You can always tell the Newbies, they pay with cash whilst us experienced regulars of course use Oyster (see previous blog, "looking after the pennies!")

Just in case and for occasions like this, we have a so called "Business Continuity Plan" a rather fancy way of saying that if Norfolk House freezes up or half our staff can't get to work there is a plan to keep everything running as near as normal as possible. Hopefully not today of course....but if things get colder or Boris simply runs out of road salt keep an eye on our website for news.

In the meantime...if you're out and about, throw a snowball for me, or should you prefer; drink one. Cheers Nan.
