Anti-Social Behaviour
CCHA encourages the right of tenants to live peacefully in their homes and this requires our tenants to show consideration for others living near you. We recognise that some tenants or their visitors may cause a nuisance to you by their actions, and have made it a condition of all tenancy agreements that the tenant, their family and visitors do not cause or create a nuisance in the vicinity of their home.
Anti-social behaviour is defined in its broadest terms as "any behaviour that caused or was likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress to one or more persons not of the same household as the perpetrator" (Crime and Disorder Act 1998)
Examples of anti-social behaviour
- Intimidation and/or harassment
- Threatening or aggressive language or conduct
- Persistent unruly behaviour designed to intimidate others
- Using your home to conduct unlawful activities
- Misconduct against persons deemed to belong to another social/cultural group
- Flytipping / dumping of unwanted items in public spaces
- Fouling of public areas by persons or pets
CCHA take nuisance and anti-social behaviour very seriously, and will take steps to prevent it from continuing. These steps range from written requests and formal discussion to legal proceedings, which may result in the person causing the nuisance to lose their tenancy with us.
We are actively involved with Croydon Council, the Police and other partners to ensure that where possible such misconduct is managed proactively, or resolved within an acceptable timeframe.
You can help in addressing this growing problem by reporting anti-social behaviour to us here at CCHA in person, phone, letter or e-mail. Our staff will treat all information of this nature seriously.
If you would like a copy of our Anti-social Behaviour Strategy, Policy & Procedure and leaflet, you can e-mail us on customerservices@croydonchurchesha.co.uk, telephone or write to us and you will be sent a copy.
